Meeting Minutes
The Newtown Cultural Arts Commission (NCAC) held a special meeting on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 7:00 PM in the Mary Hawley Room at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street, Newtown, CT.
Members Present: Debbie Aurelia, Jennifer Johnston, Joe Grasso, Rob Kaiser, Donna Mangiafico, Linda Watson
Members Absent: Martin Blanco
Auxiliary Members Present: Jennifer Rogers
Guests Present: None
Jennifer Johnston called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
The CT Film Festival was discussed. Members reviewed the 2009 Film Festival and offered thoughts and ideas for next year. Moving the event to February or March and adding a student film series were proposed.
The members present voted to approve the $10,000 expenditure ($7,500 to CT Film Festival and $2,500 to Town Hall) for the April 25, 2009 CT Film Festival at the Edmond Town Hall (previously tabled until a quorum was reached).
Jennifer Johnston announced that the NCAC would have a table at the June 13, 2009 Rooster Rally and asked for volunteers to represent the commission.
The Flagpole Radio Café was discussed. Jennifer Johnston discussed moving the Flagpole Radio Café out of the Alexandria Room and into the theater at the Edmond Town Hall for the May 30, 2009 performance and for the series of performances next year. The members present voted to approve the $3,200 expenditure for the use of the theater for the May 30, 2009 performance.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2009, 7:00 PM in the Old Courtroom at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street, Newtown, CT.
